Labmobili

Rafael Oliva was born in São Paulo in 1994 and inherited his love for woodworking from his grandfather at an early age. In 2019, he founded his own design studio, Labmobili.

Crazy for wood
Rafael Oliva’s passion for wood was practically instilled in him from birth. From his grandfather, an Italian carpenter, he learned early on the proper use of woodworking tools and developed a deep love for the craft. He studied industrial design at Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado and at the University of Plymouth in England. He began his career as a designer working with none other than the Campana brothers in their studio. In 2019, Labmobili was officially founded. Through his collections, the young creative aims to express Brazilian design in the form of smart, functional, and contemporary furniture. Oliva enjoys collaborating with artisans, among others, to integrate lesser-known techniques into his pieces, keeping these traditions alive. Each stage of production is focused on minimizing waste, using eco-friendly materials, and supporting local producers.

Ori Stool
“Sculptural, the ‘Ori’ stool captivates with its minimalist design, inspired by the art of origami folding. The precisely planned folds create a striking interplay of light and shadow.”

Creta Table
“In the ‘Creta’ table, raw, textured concrete contrasts with a delicate wooden tabletop, creating a harmonious balance.”

Guamá Armchair
“Each ‘Guamá’ armchair is carved from sustainably sourced solid wood and celebrates the connection between people and nature.”
